Some would argue that the Murdoch flagship is poor quality every day. I would have started to agree up until last week when Rebecca Wade took over as Editor. Since then, the quality of journalism has boosted tenfold. Mohan (the reason I buy the paper) has had his column moved closer to the front and there have been far more engaging stories. The poor quality to which I refer is regarding the state of the actual paper when it rolls off the press. The last three editions have had that unreadable colour bleeding problem that occurs when plates aren’t aligned properly. Today, the paper was so out of alignment that the odd numbered pages lost some off the right hand side of the page. Maybe the OU get the cheap reject copies, I don’t know. I never have these problems with my other daily read – The Guardian.

Sky

Whilst we’re on the topic of the Rupert Murdoch empire, today I saw an advert kindly explaining that us Sky TV subscribers will be receiving sparkling new Sky viewing cards in the next couple of months. Our old ones are to be made obsolete. If we are to continue viewing Sky, we need to replace our old card with the new one. Regular readers will already know of my love/hate relationship with Sky and that I will not be getting too excited about ‘upgrading’ my digibox. I fear that on placing the new card into the machine, I shall be denied all but UK Living, TV Travelshop and QVC. Tonight I saw a new episode of The Simpsons. Bart created a cartoon character called ‘Angry Dad’ – based on Homer. ‘Twas tres funny. I’m savouring it while I can.

Music

Today I listened to three CDs that I purchased from HMV this weekend: Legend (Bob Marley and the Wailers), The Prime of Horace Andy (Horace Andy), Somewhere In Time (Iron Maiden).
